Official Websites for Checking a Chinese Company

China publishes company records across many separate government systems: one for business registration, others for court judgments, enforcement, tax credit, customs, trademarks, patents and public tenders. This page lists the official channel for each type of record and explains what it can — and cannot — tell you about a supplier.

Before you search anywhere, get the company’s exact Chinese legal name and its 18-character Unified Social Credit Code. An English trading name is often not enough to find the right legal entity.

ChineseCheck is an independent service and is not affiliated with any government agency. These are the official channels where these records are published, not a list of systems we connect to. All websites were opened on 2026-11-01 from outside mainland China. Access notes describe what we saw on the public page; login, verification and availability can change.

Company registration & public credit

Confirm the legal entity first. Every other check depends on matching the exact Chinese name and Unified Social Credit Code.

National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System (GSXT)

国家企业信用信息公示系统

Open official site
What you can check
The legal record of a company: registered name, Unified Social Credit Code, legal representative, registered capital, shareholders, officers, branches, registration changes, annual reports, the list of abnormal operations and the list of serious violations. It is the best place to separate the legal entity from the English trading name a supplier uses.
What it cannot tell you
Annual reports are filed by the company itself and are not audited accounts; some financial fields are optional to disclose. Registered shareholders do not always reveal who ultimately controls the business.
Run by
State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR)
Access
Chinese interface. The homepage shows login and registration links; search pages are protected by anti-automation checks.

Credit China

信用中国

Open official site
What you can check
Administrative penalties and other public-credit information published by government departments, plus special lists such as companies with frequent credit violations. It also runs the national credit-repair and objection process.
What it cannot tell you
It is not a credit score for a company and not a bank credit report. Records can be withdrawn after credit repair, so an old screenshot does not prove the current status. For the facts of a penalty, read the decision issued by the authority itself.
Run by
National Public Credit and Geospatial Information Center, under the guidance of the NDRC and the People’s Bank of China
Access
Chinese interface; the homepage opens in a normal browser but blocks automated requests.

Ministry of Ecology and Environment — penalty notices

生态环境部 · 行政处罚公示

Open official site
What you can check
Environmental penalty decisions issued at ministry level, with the decision number, violation and legal basis. For a factory, the decision text says more than a penalty count.
What it cannot tell you
There is no single national search covering every local environmental penalty. Most decisions are issued by provincial or city bureaus and published on their own websites.

Ministry of Ecology and Environment and local environmental bureaus

Chinese interface; public notices can be browsed without logging in.

Courts & enforcement

Lawsuits, hearings, judgments and enforcement are published in different places. Each answers a different question.

China Judgments Online

中国裁判文书网

Open official site
What you can check
Published court judgments and rulings in civil, criminal, administrative, compensation and enforcement cases. A judgment shows what the dispute was about, which side the company was on and how the court decided.
What it cannot tell you
It publishes judgments, not every case. Pending cases, settled cases and documents withheld from publication do not appear, and personal details may be redacted. Being named in a judgment does not mean the company lost.
Run by
Supreme People’s Court
Access
Chinese interface. The homepage opens without logging in and shows login and registration links.

China Enforcement Information Disclosure

中国执行信息公开网

Open official site
What you can check
Three separate statuses: parties subject to enforcement, judgment defaulters (the dishonest-debtor list) and consumption restrictions. These are the court records most directly linked to unpaid obligations.
What it cannot tell you
An enforcement record alone does not prove insolvency, and the three lists are not interchangeable. Records about an individual, such as a legal representative, should not be attributed automatically to every company that person is linked to.
Run by
Supreme People’s Court
Access
Chinese interface; the homepage opens without logging in.

China Judicial Process Information Online

中国审判流程信息公开网

Open official site
What you can check
Hearing notices from courts across the country — the court, hearing date, parties and cause of action — are shown publicly. Hearing notices often surface a dispute months before any judgment is published.
What it cannot tell you
Case-progress queries are only available to the parties and their lawyers after identity verification; this is not an open search of every pending case. A scheduled hearing is not a judgment.
Run by
Supreme People’s Court
Access
Chinese interface; hearing notices are visible without logging in.

China Open Court Trial Online

中国庭审公开网

Open official site
What you can check
Live streams and recordings of public court hearings, organised by court. Where a hearing involving a counterparty was streamed, it gives far more context than a one-line case entry.
What it cannot tell you
Only some hearings are streamed. It is not a complete database of hearings, and a ChineseCheck report does not include hearing videos.
Run by
Supreme People’s Court
Access
Chinese interface; recordings can be browsed without logging in.

People’s Court Announcements

人民法院公告网

Open official site
What you can check
Formal court announcements, such as service of documents by public notice when a party cannot be reached. Repeated service-by-notice can be a sign that a company is hard to locate.
What it cannot tell you
An announcement is a procedural step, not a judgment or enforcement result. These announcements are not a standard section of a ChineseCheck report.

People’s courts (national announcement platform)

Chinese interface; announcements can be browsed without logging in.

Tax & customs

Public tax and customs channels show credit status, not transaction history.

State Taxation Administration — A-rated taxpayer lists

国家税务总局 · 纳税信用A级纳税人名单公布栏

Open official site
What you can check
Whether a company appears on the published list of A-rated taxpayers for a given assessment year. Several consecutive A ratings are a useful positive signal for an established supplier.
What it cannot tell you
Only A ratings are published as lists. Not appearing on a list does not mean a D rating, tax evasion or non-compliance. Tax returns and payment details are not public.
Run by
State Taxation Administration and provincial tax bureaus
Access
Chinese interface; lists are published by province and year.

Open official site
What you can check
A company’s customs registration and credit status, including the lists of Advanced Certified (AEO) enterprises, dishonest enterprises, seriously dishonest entities, customs brokers and cross-border e-commerce enterprises.
What it cannot tell you
Customs credit is not shipment history. It does not show customs declarations, overseas buyers, export values or product lines.

National VAT Invoice Verification Platform

全国增值税发票查验平台

Open official site
What you can check
If a supplier sends you a Chinese VAT invoice (fapiao), you can check that individual invoice against the tax system using the details printed on it.
What it cannot tell you
It verifies one invoice at a time. It does not show a company’s sales, invoicing history or bank accounts.
Run by
State Taxation Administration
Access
Chinese interface; each check uses the details printed on the invoice.

Intellectual property

Trademarks and patents sit with CNIPA. Copyright registration is a separate system.

China Trademark Office — trademark search

中国商标网 · 商标查询

Open official site
What you can check
Trademarks by applicant, mark or registration number, with goods and services classes and legal status. Useful for checking whether the brand a supplier shows you is actually registered to that supplier.
What it cannot tell you
Owning a mark is not the same as a licence to sell another company’s brand. A search of a company’s portfolio is not a clearance search or a legal opinion on whether a new mark can be used.
Run by
Trademark Office of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA)
Access
Chinese interface with an English switch on the portal. The CNIPA English website explains trademark procedures but is not itself a search tool.

CNIPA Patent Search and Analysis

国家知识产权局专利检索及分析系统

Open official site
What you can check
Patent applications and grants with applicants, documents and status. Check whether a supplier’s “patented” product is covered by an invention, utility model or design patent — they are very different.
What it cannot tell you
An application is not a granted, enforceable patent, and a patent count does not prove manufacturing capability. Match the applicant carefully if the company has changed its name.

Tenders & public procurement

The same project can be published on national, regional and sector platforms. Count projects, not notices.

China Government Procurement

中国政府采购网

Open official site
What you can check
Government procurement notices: tenders, award results and contract announcements, with purchaser, supplier and amount. Winning public contracts is a sign that a company passes government supplier screening.
What it cannot tell you
An award notice is not proof of delivery or revenue. Match the legal name, not a similar brand name.

Ministry of Finance

What you can check

中国招标投标公共服务平台

Open official site

Certifications & website filings

Useful for checking claims a supplier makes in its sales materials.

全国认证认可信息公共服务平台

Open official site
What you can check
Certificates issued in China by certificate number or company name: compulsory product certification (CCC), management systems such as ISO 9001, service certification and food and organic certification, with scope and status.
What it cannot tell you
A certificate may cover one site or product line, not the whole company. Certificates issued abroad are usually checked with the issuing body. No result is a reason to ask questions, not automatic proof of forgery.
Run by
Certification and Accreditation Administration (under SAMR)
Access
Chinese interface; opens in a normal browser but blocks automated requests.

Open official site
What you can check
Which legal entity filed a mainland China website, by domain, filing number or company name. Useful for checking that the website a supplier sends you belongs to the company on the contract.
What it cannot tell you
A filing is not a telecom operating licence or a guarantee of anything about the business. Websites hosted outside mainland China have no filing.

Open official site
What you can check
Registered security interests over movable assets and rights, such as receivables pledges, equipment mortgages and financial leases.
What it cannot tell you
It is not a list of all of a company’s debts, and a registration does not prove the transaction behind it. These registrations are not part of a standard ChineseCheck report.

What you can check
The bank credit report of a company, covering its borrowing from financial institutions. A company can obtain its own report and share it with you.
What it cannot tell you
It is not an anonymous public search: only the company itself or an authorised party can obtain the report. A ChineseCheck report is a public-record report, not a PBOC credit report.

Report sections without a government source

Not every part of a company check has an official registry behind it. These sections come from company disclosures and other public information, and we do not present them as government-verified:

  • Funding rounds
  • Recruitment activity
  • Social-media accounts
  • Online shops

Frequently asked questions

Is ChineseCheck an official Chinese government website?

No. ChineseCheck is an independent company-check service. This directory links to official publication channels for reference; listing a website does not imply affiliation or endorsement.

Which website should I check first?

Start with the National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System to confirm the legal entity, its registration status and its Unified Social Credit Code. Then check courts and enforcement, followed by the sources that match your deal: customs credit for an exporter, certificates for a manufacturer, tenders for a contractor.

Does “no result” mean the company is clean?

No. Results depend on the exact name you search, what each system publishes and when records are updated. Many records are never published, and some are removed after the company resolves them. Record the date you checked and treat “no public result” as different from “no history”.

Can I use these websites in English from outside China?

Mostly in Chinese only. A few portals have an English switch or an English information page, but searching usually requires Chinese input, and some systems require an account or block automated or overseas traffic.

Can these websites show a supplier’s finances or bank loans?

Not directly. Annual reports filed with the registry are self-reported and often hide financial figures, tax returns are not public, and bank credit reports are only issued to the company itself or authorised parties.

Check every source at once

A ChineseCheck report brings registration, litigation, enforcement, penalties, tax and customs credit, intellectual property and tender records for one company into a single English report, with the date and scope of each check stated.
